Dear Chocolatier 2017

Dear Chocolatier,
First of all, thank you so much for writing for me, and I'm so sorry this took a while to get posted--I've been visiting family and travelling, and then came home to a surprise pest control visit that took me out of my apartment for the day, so things have been a bit hectic. Please take this letter as more of a guideline than anything...I'm sure I will love whatever you write.
Hard DNWs: A/B/O. Onscreen rape. High school or college AUs, groupchat fics, any fic that is explicitly about a character's sexuality or mental illness and nothing else. Kink DNWs: incest, ageplay, watersports, scat, inflation, breeding.
A few general notes:
I'm requesting fic for everything but welcome art treats, and I'm not picky about style or level of explicit content--I enjoy everything from porn to fluffy gen. If you're looking for inspiration, try my tumblr, AO3, or gifts page.
General likes: H/C. Friends to lovers. Enemies to friends to lovers. Hate sex. People learning to work together and respect each other in the face of adversity. People learning to be loved. Mentorship. Complicated and ambiguous relationships. Found families, especially if everything isn't smooth sailing once the families are found. Adventure. Metafiction. People realizing they're capable of more than they thought. Disabled and/or queer people finding happiness. People living good lives after trauma without erasing the fact that the trauma happened. Fic that incorporates politics. Spies. Loyalty/fealty kink. Epistolary and other non-traditional formats.
Sex likes: Tender lovemaking and sex as combat, possibly at the same time. Power dynamics. Roleplay, though if you go that route I would prefer the characters themselves be having fun with it and not take it too seriously. BDSM, both formal and not, though please no A/B/O or ageplay. Polyamory and kink negotiations. Sex where all partners think they're the only ones it means anything to, but really everyone is pining for each other. Cunnilingus. Spanking. Service topping. Orgasm control. Praise kink. Impact play. Sensation play.
Fandoms:
Hamilton--Miranda
This is the fandom that I'm by far the most active in these days, and so I've tried to focus on pairings I feel are underrepresented. I love this musical and the history surrounding it, so I would be fine with putting in any historical knowledge or none. As you can tell if you look at my work for the fandom, I adore AUs, and since most of the pairings I requested are noncanonical it might make sense to go that route, but missing moments are great too. Please do not make any characters white.
Pairings:
Aaron Burr/Alexander Hamilton & George Washington: as anyone will know who reads my work, I am fascinated by the complexity of the Hamilton-Washington relationship in all its messy codependency, and I'm really intrigued by what would happen if you combined that with what seems to be Burr and Washington’s mutual antipathy. Are Hamilton and Burr dating and Washington doesn't like it, trying to be an overprotective dad? Does Burr try to get Hamilton to turn against Washington somehow, and how does that go? Does Burr’s association with Hamilton prompt Washington to welcome Burr into the ‘family’ and if so does that make things better? I've always thought Washington and Burr were similar in many ways, so anything that would make them confront that would be great. As with straight Burr/Hamilton, I would prefer a happy or hopeful ending.
Aaron Burr/Alexander Hamilton: please fix these human disasters and let them be happy. Do they actually talk out their differences? Are they forced to work together under great peril? Do they fuck instead of fight? Do they go on an adventure and take care of each other in a disaster, but eventually save the day?
Aaron Burr/Elizabeth Schuyler: this would be a fascinating pairing, as much because of their similarities as their differences. They're both observers, both canny, both kind in strange ways and petty and clever and rich. I could see an arranged marriage AU being fascinating, or something addressing the meta aspects of them both being narrators. Please no post-duel fic.
Aaron Burr/Maria Reynolds: he was her lawyer, and I would love to see that relationship explored. Does that lead to something more? IRL, Burr paid for Maria’s daughter’s education...what is his relationship like with her family? How do they both deal with being survivors, in their own way, of Alexander Hamilton?
Alexander Hamilton & George Washington: the OG complicated gen relationship, as far as I'm concerned. What claim to fame I have in Hamilton fandom is based on writing fix where Washington is Hamilton’s biological father, so obviously I am fond of this premise, as well as fic where Hamilton becomes a surrogate son to Washington, though if you go that route I would prefer to have it a fraught one based on their frequent personality clashes...earn your happy ending, is what I'm saying here. But there's been so much fic about Washington as father figure and about a romantic relationship between them that I would also be thrilled with a fix showing them as the colleagues and partners they were. What made them stick with each other despite the troubles and massive headaches they doubtless caused each other? Why did their partnership work? Alternately, what made it fall down?
Basically, make them talk to each other and I will be happy!
Alexander Hamilton/Angelica Schuyler: please write these two a happy ending, or a happier one. If they had ended up together, what might that have been like? Is Angelica more of a political ally than Eliza is shown as in the play? What might their marriage be like, good and bad? Modern and canon AU would work for this, but if you want to write, like, a screwball comedy and completely ignore canon, this might be a good ship for that. Mostly I want them to have clever, snarky fun.
Angelica Schuyler & George Washington: I am fascinated by crossgender mentoring relationships that do not include sex, and what I would really like is Angelica as Washington’s right hand woman (Hamilton’s presence here is welcome but not necessary.) Canon era or AU is fine but the focus should be on them working together and learning from each other.
Alexander Hamilton & Angelica Schuyler & George Washington: same as above but with Alex and Angelica on an equal playing field for once! As I have established, I ship Alexander and Angelica, so if you want to include that it would be great but not necessary. As before, the important thing is these characters working together.
Elizabeth Schuyler/George Washington: the Hamilton fandom is filled with fic about Washington with various younger men, and what I want to know is, why should the boys have all the fun? Give me all the tropes common with Wham or Benwash or Washette and give them to Eliza instead. Alternatively, have her Domme the shit out of him, you know she could. I didn’t ask for this as a separate ship, but if you want to include Martha and Eliza’s massive crush on her, there’s certainly room for that. “She was always my idea of a true woman” is a lot.
Hercules Mulligan/Elizabeth Schuyler: this rarepair has so much potential and I would love to see more fic for it, especially with exploration of the class issues between them. They're both solid and dependable badasses and I would love to see them go on adventures and fall in love.
Benedict Arnold/George Washington: if you matched me on this, you probably know me and what I'm about. If not, though: allies and friends turning on each other! Enemies to lovers! Lovers to enemies! Very different people working together! Espionage! What's not to like about this ship?
Alexander Hamilton/James Madison: so much of the fanfic for this fandom takes place after these two have already fallen out. But I'd love to see something from the early days of their friendship that showed why they liked each other in the first place. What was writing the Federalist Papers like? How did their chronic illnesses come into play? Why was Madison, in later years, so convinced that Hamilton was dangerous?
Shameless (US)
I love the comedy of this show, but even more than that, I love the Gallagher family as survivors, playing the shifty cards life dealt with them well. My favourite is canny, loyal, ruthless, stubborn, selfish, smart, stupid Fi and Lip, and I’m here for anything that allows them to be happy. Please, not too much focus on either Frank and Monica or Gallavich. It’s fine if they’re there, they just shouldn’t be the focus of the story. Also, as I said in my signup, if you write Fi/Vee, please do not break up Kev and Vee--I’m fine with either an AU where they never got together at all or one where Kev is okay with it.
Pairings:
Veronica Fisher/Fiona Gallagher: I love the ride-or-die dynamic between these two and would love to see a story where these girls who love each other realize they’re the only ones for each other. Any setting or time period fine--maybe you want to do something where they first met? What would their life together be like? Do they maybe go into business together? Is the business entirely legal? Anything with them together and happy would make me happy.
Veronica Fisher & Fiona Gallagher: same as above but with friendship instead of sex! Basically, answer the question of why these two people are so important to each other, and I will be happy!
Kev Ball/Veronica Fisher/Fiona Gallagher: same as above but adding sweet, loyal Kev into the mix! This would be a much better throuple than the one we got on the show, imo. I love Kev and think the three of them could be very happy together.
Lip Gallagher/Helene Runyon: I’m not sure that the show delved deeply enough into this relationship and how it affected Lip. This is not a happily-ever-after sort of pairing for me, but it is one that I think has a story for both of them, and I’d love to see what you do with it.
Lip Gallagher & Professor Youens: I identify a lot with Lip’s ‘brilliant fuckup struggles at college because no one understands the pressure he’s under’ storyline, and I really like Youens as another brilliant fuckup mentoring Lip, especially in the later seasons. I’d love to see something of what makes Youens tick, what draws him to Lip, and why the two of them keep coming back to each other.
Fiona Gallagher & (/) Margo: this later-season relationship is fascinating to me because Fi has never had a role model in the sense of someone she wants to become before. Does Margo respect Fiona? Do they eventually become rival developers? Anything with them interacting, whether romantically or platonically, would be great.
Fiona Gallagher & Lip Gallagher: this relationship is the heart of the show for me, and I would love anything about their complicated dynamic of mutual affection, resentment, respect, and frustration. They’re so similar in different ways, and the way they go about things is almost never aligned, and yet their goals are the same and in many ways they raised their siblings together. I would love any fic that explores and deepens their bond.
A Little Life--Hanya Yanagihara
This is such a good book, but it’s such a flawed book too--I love Jude’s trauma conga line and beautiful suffering as much as the next girl, but I thought two seemingly contradictory things: that people were too understanding and patient with Jude, and that Jude suffered too much. I’d love to see something that fixed things for him, or at least made it better, and I’d like to see the characters involved reacting like real people do, loving but still wrapped up in their own bullshit and drama, and with their own interests at front. I would love it if these two could be combined somehow.
As I said in my signup, any sign of devoteeism is a hard DNW for me.
Pairings:
Jude St. Francis/Jean-Baptiste “JB” Marion: this is the OTP of my heart for this fandom, especially in a post-Willem scenario where both of them attempt to heal somewhat messily; I got a lovely treat for this premise last Yuletide but I could read so much more. I like JB because he loves Jude but selfishly, and pettily. Both of them hit my Assholes In Love kink so hard.
Jude St. Francis & (/) Andy Contractor: Andy’s importance in the novel is kind of in the background compared to the four friends and Harold, but he’s clearly important to Jude; it can be argued that losing Andy as his doctor is one of the things that spurs Jude to suicide at the end of the novel. What makes them so important to each other? How did their bond develop? Andy seems to be one of the few people who can call Jude out--how did that happen? How did Jude, who trusts no one, learn to trust Andy? How do they deal with the ethical implications if it ever becomes something more? Sexy prompt: Andy knows Jude’s body better than anyone, how do they work with that? How does Jude get on a more level playing field on that front?
Jude St. Francis & Harold Stein (& Julia Stein): A Little Life hits very specific fantasy buttons. One is the fantasy of The Perfect College Friendship, but also right out of the tropey playbook is the fantasy of the professor literally adopting his adult student. Jude is not even in undergrad when this happens; he's in law school which is a professional degree. Obviously, Jude is devoted to the Steins and they are devoted to him, but how does this work? Are there any more selfish motives at play here that assert themselves? Do either of them ever get tired Jude’s trauma conga line? Would still prefer a happy or hopeful ending, unless you're going short, but I would just like to see more nuance, I guess.
The Four Friends (romantic or platonic)
A Little Life is really two novels: one is a novel about college friendship, and one is about C-PTSD. Eventually the relationship between the four friends gets sort of dropped in favour of the Jude/Willem storyline, which, though it was understandable, made me sad. I would like to see more of that first novel, either the good times of them hanging out or maybe all of them being integrated into the larger narrative more. How you do that is up to you!
Crossover fandoms: I'm keeping these prompts short because if you match me on one of them and/or want to treat it's likely you already have an awesome idea, so please do write that.
Pairings:
Aaron Burr/Jude St. Francis: there's almost no chance anyone matched me on this, but just in case: I feel like these two trauma survivor orphan assholes would have a lot to teach each other. Do they work together/against each other on a case? Do they play games of Whose Life Sucks The Most? Are they extremely petty to each other, or do they offer moments of grace and compassion that brings them some kind of closure? Or both?
Rosa Diaz/Angelica Schuyler: Because this would be extremely hot and the competence porn alone would be off the charts. Do they work together? Does one or both of them time travel? Feel free to bring in any character from either canon here.
Alexander Hamilton (18th Century)/Alexander Hamilton (Broadway): because you know Hamilton is in love with himself. But seriously, what do they think of each other? I bet it's complicated. Also, who tops?
Hillary Clinton/Leia Organa: Let these women console each other for their losses, kick some fascist ass, and also fuck. That is all I want from life.
First of all, thank you so much for writing for me, and I'm so sorry this took a while to get posted--I've been visiting family and travelling, and then came home to a surprise pest control visit that took me out of my apartment for the day, so things have been a bit hectic.
